With the permission of Principal Jatinder Singh and due guidance of Prof. Shaminder Kaur, Prof. Randeep Singh and Prof. Dimple, Students of B.A.3 Semester 6, Department of Geography, Government College Ropar, conducted a field survey to analyze the traffic flow on College Road, within the campus, and around the hostel. Six teams of students were involved in the survey and collected primary data related to the traffic flow in the study area. The survey revealed increased traffic volume during peak hours, with congestion hours identified at the college entrance and around the hostel area. While the road conditions on College Road are generally good, some areas require maintenance and improvement. The survey also highlighted the need for improved pedestrian infrastructure and safety measures, such as crosswalks, speed breakers, and better lighting. To address these issues, the report recommends implementing a traffic management system to regulate traffic flow during peak hours, improving infrastructure for roads, pedestrians, and cyclists, and installing safety measures. By implementing these recommendations, the college can improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance safety for the college community.
